Freshman SOAR Sessions


Five SOAR sessions are offered throughout June and July. All incoming freshmen and transfer students are highly encouraged to attend a SOAR session before starting classes in the fall semester. The majority of our SOAR sessions are one day and will run from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Students have the option to attend one overnight two-day session (Day 1: 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. and Day 2: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.).

Consider your resources with a course schedule in mind. Take advantage of May 1 New Student Advising and arrive at orientation with a schedule prepared so you can understand your resources for a successful first semester.

Learn the "business" side of being a student.
SOAR is your first opportunity to learn about basic tasks you will need to complete each semester - from course registration to billing to Financial Aid acceptance. Get a solid foundation for the basics that you will need year after year!

SOAR is the perfect place to make sure small details aren't overlooked. Your SOAR Counselor can assist with checking on details you need to complete like submitting final high school transcripts, setting up your Mane Card student ID, and more!

UNA's goal with SOAR is to make sure you feel ready for college in all the ways that count. That's why we provide counselors for both students and family members- so everyone can spend their last few weeks before move-in reassured that UNA is thinking of you!

SOAR Payment Information

The cost to attend a one-day SOAR session is $80 per student and $35 per family member.

The cost to attend a two-day overnight session is $125 per student and $35 per family member.

We recommend completing the following tasks before attending your SOAR session:

  • Schedule an advising appointment. Freshmen can begin to meet with their academic advisors on May 1st. We recommend that students schedule a one-on-one appointment with their academic advisor outside of their SOAR session, however, there will be an optional advising session offered for students at SOAR.
  • First- Time Freshmen - Send your final high school transcript and official college transcripts for dual enrollment courses to the Admissions Office.
  • Send AP scores to UNA.
  • Upload a photo and set up mobile credentials for your Mane Card Mobile ID.
  • Submit proof of immunizations.
  • Register your vehicle with Transportation Services. Students who do so at least 24 hours before their SOAR session will be able to pick up their parking permit during orientation.
