Online Course Evaluations
Course Instructors
Step 1- Become Familiar with the System
- Read the IASystem Guidebook
- Faculty can access the IASystem Faculty Portal by going to
- Within the faculty portal, you can access your response rates, review your evaluation questions before the evaluation open date, and access your evaluation reports.
Step 2- Evaluations Open for Students
- On the day evaluations open, typically 2-3 days after the withdrawal period deadline, faculty will receive an email per course of instruction that states evaluations are now open. The email will include:
- Link to Faculty Portal
- Instructions for reviewing response rates
- Close date for evaluations
- On the day evaluations open, students receive an email for each course stating that course evaluations are open, the date they close, and the link itself.
- Students will log in via UNA credentials to complete the evaluation(s)
- Students can also access their course evaluation(s) via Canvas by clicking on the "Course Evaluation" tab in the left navigational bar underneath the course view in Canvas.
- Typically, the open window for course evaluations varies from one to five days. This window depends on the academic calendar and the term itself.
- If students do not complete the evaluation in one sitting, they can log back in and complete it before the close date.
Step 3- Encourage Participation
- Faculty are encouraged to use class time to prompt students to complete course evaluations. This can be done by encouraging them to use their device to complete during 5-10 minutes of class time set aside for course evaluations.
- Faculty are encouraged to send emails to students stating course evaluations are open.
- Faculty are encouraged to use Canvas to prompt students to complete evaluations.
- Faculty are encouraged to send reminder emails during the course evaluation open window.
Step 4- System Reminders, Closing, and Results
- System reminders will be automatically sent to students if they have not completed the evaluation.

Additional Information
- Only courses with more than four students receive an online course evaluation unless otherwise requested.
- The department must fill out a "No Evaluation Form" to request a course NOT be evaluated (see below).

Step 2-Requesting No Evaluations
- Course evaluations are conducted every term for all courses with more than four students unless otherwise requested. To request that a course NOT be evaluated, the department must complete the "".
Step 3- Evaluations Open for Students
- On the day evaluations open, typically 2-3 days after the withdrawal period deadline, faculty will receive an email per course of instruction that states evaluations are now open. The email will include:
- Link to Faculty Portal
- Instructions for reviewing response rates
- Close date for evaluations
- On the day that evaluations open, students receive an email per course enrolled stating evaluations are open, the close date for evaluations, and the link to complete the evaluation.
- Students will log in via UNA credentials to complete the evaluation
- Students also can access their course evaluation via Canvas by clicking on the "Course Evaluation" tab located in the left navigational bar underneath the course view in Canvas.
