English Minors

The Department of English offers six minors in addition to the English B.A., B.S., and M.A. These six areas are rich in content and enable students with a major in any field to be well prepared for the workplace they enter upon graduation. They are:

Applied Linguistics

A minor in Applied Linguistics demonstrates cultural and linguistic awareness and is very important in disciplines such as business, social work, and criminal justice.

Creative Writing

This minor provides students in all disciplines with an opportunity to improve the creativity and communication skills that graduate programs and employers find highly beneficial.

English

The minor concentration in English, with its emphasis on communicative and interpretive skills, provides strong support to practically any major in the curriculum.

Film Studies

This minor provides a theoretical, historical, and practical understanding of cinema.

Human Computer Interaction/User Experience (HCI/UX)

An interdisciplinary minor which explores the foundations of English that apply to HCI/UX including diverse forms of communication and cognitive processes.

Professional Writing

This minor is designed to accommodate students who may wish to develop composition skills as preparation for future employment.
