Certificate in Public History
The is designed to give students who hold a B.A. or a B.S. the opportunity to take courses in public history without pursuing the M.A. degree. The certificate will aid those already working with historical agencies in a professional or volunteer capacity in acquiring skills to better serve their organizations.
Graduate students pursuing the M.A. in History can add the post-baccalaureate certificate in public history to their program to enhance their learning experience and improve their career opportunities.
The post-baccalaureate certificate in public history can be completed online.
Students are required to take 12 credit hours of public history coursework, including HI 665, Public History. For the remaining 9 hours, students may choose from courses in digital history, historic preservation, museum and archival administration, collections management, and many others to create an individualized program of study most suited to their needs.
