Clinical Exercise Physiology Concentration
Exercise Science represents a dynamic field of study focusing on how the human body responds to exercise and physical work. The Clinical Exercise Physiology concentration provides the scientific foundation as well as hands-on skills essential in determining an individual's fitness level and cardiovascular disease risk. The curriculum also provides opportunities for students to learn how to promote optimal physical fitness by prescribing preventative and rehabilitative strategies for special populations. In addition to challenging coursework, students complete a 200 hour minimum internship during their senior year in which they expand upon the applied skills acquired during coursework. Clinical Exercise Physiologists are prepared to work with various special populations in areas such as cardiac rehabilitation, chronic disease, and programs for the elderly or with individuals who are overweight/obese.
