FLORENCE, AL – The AV Clarinet Quartet has been accepted to perform at the International Clarinet Association’s international conference – ClarinetFestÒ 2025 – in July in Fort Worth, Texas.

“The students will spend months rehearsing as a group in preparation for this conference, honing their individual musical skills as well as ensemble communication, blend, and style,” said Dr. Kelsey Paquin, Assistant Professor of Music and the quartet coach. “At the conference, they will be featured among other advanced students, professional musicians and pedagogues, and internationally renowned virtuosi. They will also have the opportunity to perform in the Collegiate Clarinet Choir, audition for masterclasses and competitions, network, and attend countless performances, lectures, and workshops that will surely return them to UNA as more well-educated musicians and inspired clarinetists.”

Quartet members include Conrad Burns, a junior majoring in music performance; Nathan Curry, a sophomore majoring in music performance; Anna Neal, a senior music education major; and Ariel White, a senior general music major.

The quartet will perform a program that includes a new arrangement of Florence native and composer W.C. Handy’s St. Louis Blues, arranged by Nathan Curry.

In addition to being coached by Dr. Paquin, the students also study with Dr. Meghan Merciers, Professor of Music and Associate Dean for the School of the Arts.
